People around the world look at different dates with varying thoughts. As an example, today’s date is non-significant in most calendars around the globe. And for people who feel no attachment towards the sixteenth, i have no complaints.
The non-chalance cannot be categorized as ignorance, rather it is probably an immunity from the pain that the date is capable of encompassing. For today, happens to be the birthday of an intellectually superior being who no longer walks around on this planet. Wouldn’t use the term ‘dead’, simply because he was too full of life, to actually die.
He fell off a very high balcony earlier this year, and I’m sure he was still looking at the stars when he fell. When i look around at people surrounding me , for the better part of the day it’s difficult to spot someone who radiates inspiration. Saahil Khurana was one person who wasn’t afraid to talk about dreams at any given time of the day. Seriously, the guy could go on and on about what he expected me to be when we used to hang out on the hostel roof at night. He spoke of things i could, or should dream of.
I agree, he had his own shortcomings, as do any one of us. We all have our little flaws which makes us unique in our own little flaws. Saahil somehow found a way to look beyond those flaws and focus on what every person meant to him. I once got into a fight with this guy called Subho, actually, “got into a fight” is an exaggeration- i was beaten up by the guy. And i got so freaking disturbed after that incident, i hardly spoke about it. But Saahil caught me in one of my thinking trances, and called Subho to the room. “An eye for an eye may make the world blind”, he said, “But it’s a fair world with shortsighted people”. He made me hit Subho, and to be really honest, i think i forgave him after that.
Saahil could do that to people. We had a minor disagreement once, late last year. When i returned to the city, a girl i used to go out with, claimed that Saahil had been hitting on her in my absence. She and i had already broken up, and it hardly made sense for me to be angry at Saahil, And really, when you’re talking about girls like that, you’re better off applying the “Bros before Ho’s” rule. Still, i was upset, and i decided to tackle it in Saahil’s way. So i called him up and we talked about it. He denied having done any such thing, and i could sense that he didn’t buy the fact that i believed in his denial.
So today, on what would have been his twenty first birthday, I’m here to tell him, that i did believe him. Couldn’t suspect him on that charge. He was too loyal for that.
Happy Birthday Saahil Khurana. Twenty One Guns to you.
